Our society is accustomed to applauding grandiose accomplishments. Promotions, awards, sport wins, writing a best seller, producing a movie all bring accolades. However, the attention for most accomplishments is short-lived and spurs the drive to do more and more. More attention and energy is required which often sacrifices enjoying the “now”. Happiness is lost between goals.
That begs the question. How can we experience happiness every day? The answer lies in focusing upon others. Perform some small task daily to either help or make another’s day better. Giving is the answer.
Our giving may consist of a simple heartfelt compliment, a home made dish, tending your neighbor’s home while they travel, flowers from your garden, or a thousand other small actions. Anything to say we care will brighten another’s day. In turn, that frequently brings good feelings for us . Viola! Happiness.
